The Unlit Century EP is a companion to Harlan's latest record, Spiderette. All of the songs were recorded during the Spiderette sessions. The included version of "The Unlit Century" was a recording experiment in which Britt produced a radically different version of the song found in John's original demo (note the sounds of the demolition of Baton Rouge's infamous Highland Shopping Center at the end of the tune). The two "Orchestra" tracks are outtakes originally intended to appear on Spiderette. "Typical Daylight" and "Still Kicking Around" are demos recorded by John near the end of the sessions.
